How to hire an SEO

In today’s booming world of online marketing, everyone seems to be an expert. Just today, I was meeting with a new client who went over a few proposals they had gotten from other providers. The proposals had detailed notes on what the client needed to do to be successful. The client wanted to know what was legitimate, and what wasn’t so I explained what really when it comes to search engine placement, and what’s fluff.

When searching for a search engine optimization provider first think back to where you found them. Was it a referral? A networking group like BNI? Or, did you find them when performing a search in a competitive marketplace like ‘Denver SEO?’

SEOs are a lot like real estate agents. They are a dime a dozen, but within that dozen you’re likely to find a few gems, and you don’t even have to really search that hard.

If a search engine optimization provider is selling you on better search engine placement, and more traffic, don’t you think they should be held to the same standard of the services they’re selling?

Let’s go back to the client I mentioned above. This client before talking to me have handled SEO in-house. They had pretty good organic traffic, and pretty decent rankings considering how competitive their market was.

I threw the SEO provider into one of my favorite SEO tools, SEMRush.com. SEM Rush gives you pretty accurate traffic estimations based on a websites rankings and visibility. The first company I evaluated had significantly less traffic than the prospect who’s been performing in-house. Additionally, they really didn’t rank for anything so would it be fair to assume that they might not be able to offer any help to the prospect?

Colorado’s got a plethora of great local SEO talent. We’ve also got our fair share of people who are slinging sales regardless of their ability to really deliver anything.

This is one of the reasons I’m excited for Shop 5280. This guide is not only a guide for local businesses, but it’s a guide that allows the consumer to drive the experience, and a place where the admins for the site can effectively moderate great companies, not just SEOs.

Still need help? Parker SEO is part of SEO Brokers which means we don’t just offer SEO, we can help you find great vendors, and manage the process so you don’t get stuck.
